For Tutors and Tutees

Roles of Tutors and Tutees

This page is designed to help and support both tutors and tutees in understanding their role for volunteering and/or participating/joining AMELE. All meetings are held online using either Google Meet or Zoom. Both tutor and tutee: we ask for you to be committed to this opportunity. Once assigned, we would like the pair to continue for at least 3 months unless specifically told otherwise.

Home Office Study

Tutors

As a tutor, your main goal is to help your tutee practice speaking English with confidence and correctness. You may also help and support them in their studies, homework, or life in general if needed to the best of your ability.

Each weekly meeting time (that you both will decide on in your first meeting) will be 30 minutes:

10-15 minutes: how life was today, homework quick questions, etc.

15-20 minutes: a topic given in Google Classroom that week. Tutor and Tutee will talk about it while sharing and listening to each other opinions. As the tutor, you can kindly and respectfully correct any grammar or pronunciation errors.

Once done, please email amele.info@gmail.com in the designated email thread with the following:

1. Your first and last name

2. Your tutee first and last name

3. Your email

4. What you did in the meeting

5. Any suggestions or improvements

If by any chance you will not be able to attend a meeting that week, please remember to let your tutee and AMELE know as soon as possible.

You may communicate with your tutor using either email threads, phone numbers, google chat or any other platform. Just please remember to speak with respect and kindness!

Thank you for all your support!!

Tutees

As a tutee, your main goal is to allow yourself to speak confidently and correctly with your tutor. If you would like any support or have any questions with school, life, or homework, please don't hesitate in letting your tutor know. They will help you to their best ability.

Each weekly meeting time (that you and your tutor will decide on in your first meeting) will be 30 minutes:

10-15 minutes: how life was today, homework quick question, etc.

15-20 minutes: a topic given in Google Classroom that week.

Tutors and tutees will discuss and listen to each other opinions. As a tutee, feel free to ask questions on how to say something or if you need to make sure you're pronouncing something correctly. Your tutor will do their best to help support and correct any speaking/grammatical mistakes. Do not feel ashamed or scared to speak!! This is an opportunity and experience for you to learn and speak. :)

Once done, please email amele.info@gmail.com in the designated email thread with the following:

1. Your first and last name

2. Your tutor's first and last name

3. Your email

4. What you did in the meeting today

5. Any suggestions or improvements.

If by any chance you will not be able to be at a meeting that week, please remember to let your tutor and AMELE know as soon as possible.

You may communicate with your tutor using either email threads, phone numbers, google chat or any other platform. Just please remember to speak with respect and kindness!

Thank you for all your support!
